Having arrived in the PNW

I have arrived! I’m now a little over two months into my two year residency in Seattle at Pottery Northwest, and about to head to the 50th anniversary NCECA (National Council on Education in the Ceramic Arts) conference in my third year as Social Media Director. It’s been a crazy adjustment, from a short semester stay in Boulder for a post-bacc to moving across country here and getting settled. I’m loving it though, and hope to get this site updated more now that I’m in a groove! Here’s a little preview of what I’ve been up to, and of course you can always keep up on social media.

Big changes ahead

First up, summer schedule!

Now the big stuff. In late August I’m moving out to Boulder, CO to start a semester long post-baccalaureate program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Then, in January I head out to Seattle, WA to settle in as a long-term resident artist at Pottery Northwest!

Discovering (Family) Value

The newest issue of The Studio Potter magazine is out, Vol 43 No 1 Winter/Spring 2015, and my article about family, the value of handmade, and discovering my legacy is on pages 23-27. If you don’t already subscribe, I cannot recommend TSP highly enough. It was a joy to work with editor Elenor Wilson, and I hope to continue writing. For that, they have to continue to publish, so we need more subscriptions to keep the printers printing! To sign up, head to Totally worth it.

Bye 2014, Hello 2015

New work from the end of 2014. Here’s to a new year!

print and clay

I’ve opened a new shop! It’s called “Print and Clay” and it’s on Etsy! Print and Clay will be the outlet for all of my I-watch-too-much-Netflix obsessions. Nosferatu, Doctor Who, Jurassic Park, and more. Right now it’s debuting at Vintage and Made Fair in West Des Moines, and soon more will be available online.

Print and Clay is slipcast work that I’ve printed and glazed- this makes it much more affordable than my 100% handmade work. It’s dishwasher safe but not microwavable- low-fire earthenware tends to explode when rapidly heated. Shop and enjoy!
